You are Special

talkThis presentation delivered at Reading University in the UK in 2017 presents the position that you are not normal. You are special.

Just like a snowflake, every one of us is born individually different – both genetically and through our experiences.

We are all unique and we are all special, and we are here to realise our own personal passions.

How would you like to shape your world?

Many of the world’s most successful and influential individuals became successful because they did not follow the mainstream narrative, the story which we are educated to accept as reality through a given message about the way things are.

Steve Jobs was fired from Apple for wanting to do things differently to the mainstream, Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard after his social media platform was deemed “completely improper”, and J.K. Rowling was rejected by twelve publishing houses and told she had little chance of making money in children’s books.

Regardless of one’s opinion about these individual people, each one of them shaped the world we live in today by staying true to their own personal passion and belief in changing the narrative of what is normal.

This motivating, uplifting and humorous talk encourages people to remember that each and every one of our life experiences makes us different and special, and personal and global wellness comes from discovering who we are, believing in our abilities and following our passions.

We can all stand out. Don’t be normal. You are special.
