Lucas Education Research – Edutopia
Founded by award-winning filmmaker George Lucas in 1991, the foundation takes a strategic approach to improving K-12 education through two distinct areas of focus: Lucas Education Research and Edutopia.
The foundation is working towards their vision of a new world of learning based on the compelling truth that improving education is the key to the survival of the human race.
They perceive Eutopia as a world where schools provide rigorous project-based learning, social and emotional learning, critical thinking and access to new technology.
It is a world of creativity, inspiration, and ambition informed by evidence and experience where students become lifelong learners and develop 21st-century skills. It is a world where innovation is the rule, not the exception.
They envision that in this world, students and parents, teachers and administrators, policy makers and the people they serve are all empowered with a shared vision to change education for the better.
They call this place Edutopia, but the foundation is carrying out research, providing resources and making community connections to make this world a reality now.
Could George Lucas’s vision be what education needs to ensure a positive future for all?
